Twenty-one-year-old Zimbabwean care worker Linda Mudzenda, who stole the hearts of many at this year’s edition of Britain’s Got Talent, will make her guest appearance at the King’s birthday party to be hosted by British embassy in Harare this week.
Mudzenda stole the global limelight when she received the seventh golden buzzer at this year’s edition of the televised British talent show competition, after a moving rendition of You Say by Lauren Daigle.
The golden buzzer moment came as Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, stood from her chair, declaring, “Britain needs to hear this voice!” before slamming the golden button while Alesha Dixon sent Mudzenda straight into the finals.
The British embassy in Zimbabwe confirmed Mudzenda’s appearance at the King’s birthday party in Harare.
Although people across the globe, mainly in Commonwealth countries, have celebrated the official birthday of the reigning monarch in June for decades, King’s birthday in its current form was introduced in 2023.
Following an announcement by the British authorities in December 2022, the official birthday of King Charles III is celebrated on the third Saturday in June each year.
In some years, however, the date may be moved to a different date. For instance, this year’s, King’s birthday falls on June 14, which is the second Saturday in June.
