TWO Harare men allegedly fatally assaulted a thief they caught red handed in Budiriro suburb.
Samson Maruta and Kudakwashe Andrew Nyagumbo appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi facing murder charges
They were remanded in custody to April 5 and advised to approach the High Court for bail consideration.
Allegations are that on December 16 last year at around 0030hours near Current shops Budiriro 5B, the duo caught the now deceased Wiliiam Matore allegedly stealing at the Goshen Community centre.
The court heard that accused persons assaulted Matore with booted feet and a metal object.
After assaulting him, they then dumped him at a bus stop near the shopping centre where he passed on.
His body was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital for post mortem and it was revealed that he died of severe head trauma.
On March 20 2024, the accused persons were identified by witnesses leading to their arrest.
