All is set for the National Education Conference and Expo (NECE), which kicks off in Harare next Wednesday.

This year’s edition, the third, serves as a hub for knowledge exchange, networking and collaboration, offering a dynamic platform for stakeholders in the education sector to learn, engage and grow, organisers have said.

Running under the theme Transforming Education in Zimbabwe: Embracing Innovation and Excellence, the conference provides a platform to network, collaborate and learn in order to improve educational practices and outcomes.

Alson Darikayi, president of Action for Empowerment Zimbabwe, organisers of the conference told Standard People that preparations for the three-day educational symposium were at an advanced stage.

“It’s all systems go,” he said.

“Everything is in place, except for a few logistical obstacles that we are sure would be addressed before conference commences.

“We are geared up and all our guest speakers are rearing to go.”

Education minister Torerai Moyo is the guest honour at the conference that would also graced by other ministers Tatenda Mavetera (Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services), Paul Mavima (Skills Audit and Development) and Frederick Shava (Higher and Tertiary Education).

Prominent educationist Tim Middleton, consul general of Zimbabwe in Israel, Ronny Levi Musan and Elevate Trust executive director, Sicelo Dube, will also be among keynote speakers during the three-day conference.

Darikayi said the conference aims to complement government efforts and initiatives in the educational sector to achieve Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG4 on Education.

“The theme emphasises the need for a paradigm shift in Zimbabwe’s education sector, focusing on innovative practices, cutting-edge technologies and excellence in teaching and learning,” he said.

“By embracing innovation and excellence, the conference seeks to contribute to the transformation of Zimbabwe’s education sector, ultimately improving the quality of education and preparing learners for success in the 21st century.”

The conference brings together educators, policymakers and industry experts from around the country to share their knowledge and insights on the latest trends and issues in education.

Darikayi said conference outcomes would include a comprehensive report on the state of education in Zimbabwe, a set of recommendations for improving education as well as establishment of partnerships and collaborations among stakeholders

Thematic areas of discussion would dwell on infrastructure development and education financing, education policy and governance, digital transformation in education, STEM education and innovation as well as policy and future trends in education.
