
A suspected robber is nursing injuries after he was bashed by an angry mob in Chiweshe before being handed over to the police.
Tinashe Chatima's (21) allegedly tried to rob Ruvimbo Rangwani (22) along a footpath in Chiweshe.
The suspect grabbed Rangwani, strangled her and robbed her of her mobile phone and handbag.
As he tried to flee, Rangwani shouted for help and villagers came to her rescue.
Chatima tried to flee, but a crowd gave chase and apprehended him.
He was assaulted and handed over to the police.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the case.
"I can confirm the case and the suspect was sent to Concession hospital after the attack by the mob, his condition is stable," Mundembe said.
