EcoCash 'ChakachayaZiyawa' promotion enters final stretch

Hundreds of thousands of EcoCash users from around the country have been winning different prizes – from essential household appliances to cash – in the EcoCashChakachayaZiyawa promotion as the leading fintech company’s popular annual promotion enters its final stretch. 

The promotion, which was launched on  June 19, 2025 and runs until August 28,2025, has already seen over 100 000 customers win various prizes, making it one of the biggest customer rewarding campaigns in the market to date.

Zimbabwe, through platforms such as EcoCash, is among the leading countries in Africa that is driving financial inclusion through the wide adoption of mobile financial digital technologies.

The EcoCash promotion – whose slogan is: “Transact. Earn. Win.” captures the simple mechanics of how it works, essentially spurring customers to adopt digital technologies with the incentive of standing a chance to win utility prizes that impact their lives.

“I use EcoCash for everything – sending money, buying airtime, even receiving remittances. I didn’t think much of it until one day when I got a call telling me that I won a fridge. I picked it up from the Masvingo EcoCash office, and I’m still can’t get over it to this day,”said one of several winners, Peter Mutubuki, from Masvingo.

Jacob Ruputsa, a winner from Gweru, expressed gratitude for the promotion.

“This is more than a promotion. It’s something that’s brings joy into people’s lives.”Ruputsa also won a fridge.

In Mount Darwin, Susan Mapetese walked away with a gas stove.

“I’ve always trusted and used EcoCash, but I never imagined I would personally win something so useful.”

Sarudzai Chapeyama from Mutare, who won a freezer, said the prize had made a big difference to her household.

“EcoCash is part of my everyday life. Now, thanks to this promotion, I can store more food for my children. This freezer is a dream come true.”

Mavis Mutisi from Gwanda, was elated after winning a motorcycle.

“Actually winning a prize has made me so happy,” she said, adding that it has increased her affinity for the mobile money platform, and to transacting using mobile technology.

The promotion allows customers earn points for performing routine financial transactions, such as cash-ins, airtime and data bundle purchases, bill payments, sending or receiving money, as well as receiving salaries and diaspora remittances.

Those who accumulate at least 20 points per week automatically qualify for weekly draws.

Customers who earn 500 points or more unlock eligibility for the grand prizes, which include a holiday for two in Dubai and an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Morocco to watch an AFCON match.

As the grand prize draw approaches in a week’s time, EcoCash said customers still have plenty of chances to win the headline prizes.
