Police probe ‘prophet’ filmed abusing women

Police spokesperson commissioner Paul Nyathi said the Zimbabwe Republic Police is working tirelessly to gather evidence, interview victims, and determine the extent of the abuse.

POLICE are investigating a video in which a self-proclaimed prophet is recorded sexually abusing women under the guise of spiritual guidance.

The footage, which has gone viral, appears to show the prophet engaging in inappropriate and coercive behaviour with vulnerable individuals seeking help.

The victims, mostly women, are reportedly told that the abuse is a form of spiritual cleansing or a way to alleviate their burdens.

Police spokesperson commissioner Paul Nyathi said the Zimbabwe Republic Police is working tirelessly to gather evidence, interview victims, and determine the extent of the abuse.

"We are aware of the video since it has gone viral and the ZRP is running investigations to arrest the perpetrators since the act was a criminal offence in either it was for content creation or some sort as the barbaric act is pornographic," Nyathi said yesterday.

“In Chitungwiza we are receiving complaints on the same so called "Madzibaba" yet to be revealed his name, abusing women in return to help them with their issues of barrenness.”

The prophet's actions have sparked outrage and concern among the community, with many calling for justice and accountability.

The prophet allegedly uses his position of power to manipulate and exploit the women, causing physical and emotional harm.

This comes as the police have called on individuals, local and avroad, who were raped ot duped by well-known prophet Walter Magaya to open cases against him.

Magaya is currently out on bail on several charges of fraud and rape.

There have been several reports of vulnerable women being raped by self-styled prophets while seeking help.
