“I can confirm a fatal road accident in Mazowe, where Magwiroto died after being hit by a truck,” Mundembe said.
A speeding truck driver allegedly ran over a nine-year-old boy at the 32-kilometre peg along the Harare–Mukumbura highway over the weekend.
Simbarashe Nyajena (23), who was driving a white Hino Dutro, failed to stop and struck Tinaye Magwiroto (nine) as the boy was crossing the road.
Magwiroto sustained head and leg injuries and was rushed to Concession Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries upon admission.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the incident.
“I can confirm a fatal road accident in Mazowe, where Magwiroto died after being hit by a truck,” Mundembe said.
Police warned drivers to avoid speeding.
