The Society has its home at Royal Harare Golf Club and held its inaugural meeting on the 24th of July 1969 at Royal Salisbury Golf Club.
The objective of the society is to provide golfing opportunities for members to play golf in the enjoyable company of women of their own age in competitions arranged regularly ‘by the Management Committee. An annual fixture list is prepared by the beginning of each year.
Throughout the year, 12 competitions (11 of which are trophy events) are played on every first Monday of the month.
The 12th is the very popular mixed Christmas competition.
Royal Harare golf course is the most favourite golf course of the Society’s members.
A special attraction for our members is that for thirty dollars a year, they get to play 12 times on different golf courses in and around Harare.
A candidate for membership of the society must have attained the age of 50 years, be a full playing member of a recognised golf club and hold a live ZLGU /HNA handicap.
Ladies come from different golf clubs and are happy to interact with other players.

Members are encouraged to play in pink shirts displaying the SLGS logo, which is the Bauhinia flower embroidered on to the shirt.
When ladies reach the age of 80, they are made Honorary Life Members.
They don’t have to pay their yearly subscription fee anymore and continue to enjoy their monthly game in the company of their old friends.
This year, the Society has 57 members, out of which 10 are Honorary Life Members.
The President and Executive Committee are elected at the Annual General Meeting and serve for a minimum of two years. Eike McIntosh has been the Society’s president for the last ten years and has three committee members to assist her.
Meetings of the Executive Committee take place once a month.
The President presides at all meetings, records the minutes of each meeting and keeps true and proper accounts of all Income and Expenditure to be presented at the Annual General Meeting, which takes place every year on the first Monday in October.
Once a year, the Society holds a fund-raising tournament, the Vicky Clarke Tournament, with its regular beneficiary, Borradaile Trust.
Another important fixture on the Society's golfing calendar is the Marge Simpson Memorial Trophy.
This year, the three-day event was played at Borrowdale Brooke Golf Course from August 8-10 followed by a festive dinner at AloAlo restaurant, hosted by Marge Simpson’s daughter, Lesley Orford.
The SLGS is most grateful to the Golf Professional of Wingate Golf Club, Mr. Lewis Muridzo Chitengwa, who since December 2013 has been providing vouchers for every SLGS competition for a free golf lesson to every player in a team event who had decided to go the "Scenic Route". This gesture is highly appreciated by all members of our Society.
All services rendered by the President and Executive Committee are on an honorary basis for the enjoyment of our beloved game of golf for all ladies over 50 years of age.
