MWOS Football Club who are top of the Castle Lager Premier League table should not get too excited with their current position as there is still a long way to go to the championship.
The Punters are surely surprised by how easy they have found themselves at the summit of the table after initially setting the targeting of keeping their place in the PSL for the 2026 season.
Against all expectations, they now find themselves chasing the league championship in their first year in the 18-team Castle Lager Premier Soccer League assembly.
Surely, having beaten Dynamos, Highlanders, and Scottland at home and picked up important points away to Simba Bhora and FC Platinum there are grounds for optimism that the title could be theirs but it is also too early to think of that.
Those who saw them beat Scottland 1-0 on May 31 have praised them for being a solid, and all-round outfit but beating Mabviravira should not be used as the standard in determining who is likely to win the Zimbabwe football championship come the end of the season.
Mabviravira are also new to the Premiership and having brought together too many players from various clubs, they have not yet acquired the shape to be used as a barometer.
Surely, before MWOS get too excited, the Lloyd Mutasa coached side should be reminded that this is only 14 games into the season and what awaits them is more than what they have already faced.
They need to be stronger and more focused than never before even if it means signing one or two more players to strengthen their side when the transfer window opens.

The idea, though, should be to ignore players who hog from one club to the other as some of them have destructive tendencies and could destroy the foundation they have laid down.
The Norton based side lead the way with 30 points, four more than second placed Simba Bhora after 14 matches of the 34- game - programme.
Scottland -- who are seven points adrift -- could also be four points behind MWOS as they are likely to be awarded the three points from their abandoned match against Chicken Inn.
Mabviravira sit in third place with 23 points but could move to 26 points, the same as Simba Bhora should they benefit from that aborted Chicken Inn match.
MWOS, however, should also look far beyond Simba Bhora and Scottland as their main competitors but also at Ngezi Platinum Stars who are on 21 points and FC Platinum on 20 points.
A 10 or nine point lead is nothing in football especially when there are still 20 games and 60 points to be played for.
For instance in 1992, Manchester United led Blackburn Rovers by 12 points but lost the title on the last day of play after finishing one point behind Rovers.
For now, it is so far, so good for The Punters although they need to be reminded that a tougher road still awaits to be negotiated before they can dream big.
The second half of the season provides the toughest route for them moreso that they will travel to Dynamos, Highlanders, Manica Diamonds, Scottland, and TelOne.
Surely, their aim now is to emulate the achievement of Black Rhinos who in 1984 won the then Super League title in their maiden year in the Premiership but that is easier said than done.
The question is : Does Lloyd Mutasa and Joseph Takaringofa have the technical and tactical know-how that Ashton Nyazika and Shepard Murape possessed in that memorable year ?
Or do the MWOS players have the staying power and character that the Chipembere heroes Stanley Ndunduma, Stanford Mtizwa, Lovemore Chikunha Simon Mugabe, Hamid Dhana, Maronga Nyangela, Jerry Chidawa, Japhet Mparutsa and Ernest Mutano had in 1984 ?
For now, the Fifa International break gives the MWOS players the opportunity to recover from the excitement of beating Scottland on that May 31 day - before relaunching their quest for the title.
