ZPC Kariba falls to Green Fuel

ZPC Kariba coach Newton Chitewe expressed his disappointment, particularly with his team's lack of attacking prowess.

ZPC Kariba suffered its first home loss of the season yesterday, falling 1-0 to Green Fuel FC in a closely contested Premier League match at Nyamhunga Stadium.

Clive Rupiya scored the lone goal for the visitors in the 90th minute.

The match was a tight affair with both teams creating chances, but it was Green Fuel's persistence that ultimately paid off.

Although ZPC Kariba controlled the early part of the game, they couldn't capitalise on their opportunities.

Green Fuel FC coach Roswell Dhlakama praised his team's effort in a post-match interview.

"We had fatigue from traveling," he said, "but at the end of the day, sometimes you play well and you win and that's what happened today."

ZPC Kariba coach Newton Chitewe expressed his disappointment, particularly with his team's lack of attacking prowess.

"This is our first loss at home, and we did not play very well," Chitewe said.

"We did not create any goal-scoring opportunities today.

“This is a poor performance because we failed to create scoring chances.

“When you fail like that, you concede a goal like that—it's a disappointing defeat."

Chitewe added: “ Concentration was not there. Today we were not there. If we had penetrated, we would have taken home advantage and talked about scoring goals.

“But today, you can see we did not even shoot at the goalkeeper. So, how can you win when you are not creating goal-scoring opportunities?"

Key moments included ZPC's Charles Munyanyi's missed chance in the 11th minute and a long-range shot by Green Fuel's Blessing Kagudu that sailed wide.

But it was Rupiya's decisive 90th-minute goal that secured the victory for Green Fuel.
