The event is part of a cocktail of activities to celebrate Africa Day under the banner Live Your Dream Africa Month-Live Your Dream Africa Day Mt Kilimanjaro Challenge and Celebration.

Officially launched by the Tanzanian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Suzan Salome Kaganda, the event aims to amplify calls for unity, freedom, and prosperity among African citizens.

"The call to action the MT Kilimanjaro Challenge is not just a physical adventure; it is a symbol for the journey of Africa itself,” Kaganda said.

“It reminds us that the path to the top is never easy.

“The air becomes thinner, the climb steeper yet those who persevere, those who believe, reach the summit and raise the flag of victory.

"Let this challenge ignite a spirit of action across our nations.

“Let us climb together youth and elders, governments and citizens, men and women united by our shared dream of an empowered Africa."

The ambassador explained what it means to climb the iconic mountain.

"The symbolism of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the roof of Africa, stands tall and symbolises the strength, beauty, and resilience of our continent,” she said.

“To climb Kilimanjaro is to face challenges with courage, to rise above fear, and to believe that the summit is possible.

“Likewise, to live your dream as an African is to refuse to be limited by history, circumstance, or doubt.

"Each step on the mountain represents a step towards our collective dream, a dream of unity, progress, and dignity for all Africans.

“The Tanzanian Embassy in Zimbabwe proudly supports and encourages the initiatives by the organisers on this continental project."

Founder and CEO of Afrika Speaks/GAAB, Munyaradzi Muzenda, dissected the ambitious project that aims to produce a 56km art banner with each African country providing a kilometer of art.

"We have a project called the Great African Art Banner. We are doing one of the longest art banners in Africa,” Muzenda said.

“That banner is going to be 56 kilometres long. Each painting will be 56 centimetres by 63. In Africa, we are 55 nations plus 1 the Diaspora.

“Then 63 depicting the year AU was formed. Also 63 depicting Agenda 2063.

"Living the African Dream is not only about personal success, It is about purpose. It is about building communities where innovation thrives, where young people believe in their potential, where women and men walk side by side toward prosperity.

“It is about transforming our challenges into opportunities and turning the mountain before us into a staircase of hope," Her Excellency added.

"Every entrepreneur who creates jobs, every teacher who shapes young minds, every farmer who feeds the nation they are living the African dream.

“Through these initiatives we invite our governments, embassies, Private sectors, NGOs and individuals across Africa to join us in this journey. Let's work together to create a lasting impact."
