Hardrock FC have secured promotion to the Premier Soccer League after clinching the Central Region Soccer League title with a game to spare, and their home ground, Chahwanda Stadium, is making major strides toward completion.
Hardrock FC sealed their promotion on Saturday with a decisive win over MSU FC at Baghdad Stadium in Kwekwe, leaving the Kwekwe‑based side with an unassailable 85‑point lead.
The victory means the club will lift the league trophy in their final match against Dulibadzimu in Beitbridge next weekend. On the other hand their challengers, Sheasham FC,
Their ascent to the Premier Soccer League is especially exciting because the new Chahwanda Stadium is nearing completion and could be ready to welcome fans for the start of the top‑flight season next year.
Coach Calvin Maphosa said, “We are thrilled to bring Premier League football back to Kwekwe and can’t wait to celebrate with our supporters upto the next seasons."
Meanwhile, CAF stadium expert Muhammad Feizal Sidat, who has visited the venue for third time on Saturday, gave a glowing review of the progress made so far:
“The stadium’s progress has been very satisfying. We receive comments and suggestions on a regular basis, and it is our responsibility to ensure that, at every stage, the venue meets safety and security standards, is fully accessible, and has the necessary equipment in each functional area.
"Overall, we are happy with what we have seen, although certain areas remain under development. In our upcoming visits we will continue to oversee and verify that everything is built in accordance with CAF Category 2 requirements.”
