FAST-GROWING financial services firm, Bard Santner Inc, hosted a golf tournament in Kwekwe recently as part of its stakeholder engagement strategy and broader expansion into the Midlands Province.
The group is seeking to strengthen relationships with businesses while extending tailored financial solutions to one of the country’s key economic regions.
The tournament brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs and industry players forms part of the group’s broader strategy to build relationships and gain a deeper understanding of the financial needs of businesses operating in the province.
In an interview with this publication, Bard Santner executive director Tatenda Hungwe said the golf event was more than a networking platform, describing it as an opportunity to engage directly with clients and industry stakeholders.
“Our approach begins with understanding the unique challenges that businesses face,” he said.
“Hence our adoption of golf as a platform to understand those challenges that require specialised financial solutions rather than standardised products.
“We aim to provide integrated solutions under one trusted brand.”
Hungwe said the group believes business is built on relationships and trust, making stakeholder engagement central to its long-term growth strategy.

“Financial services is not simply about transactions but understanding people, their ambitions and the challenges they face. Every meaningful business relationship begins with a conversation and our objective is to create platforms where those conversations happen naturally,” he said.
The golf tournament comes as Bard Santner strengthens its presence in the Midlands as part of a strategic expansion aimed at improving access to financial solutions for businesses, entrepreneurs and communities across the province.
The group’s expansion is driven by the Midlands province’s diverse economy with sectors such as mining, manufacturing, agriculture and commerce presenting significant opportunities for financial services.
Hungwe said the decision to expand into the province follows significant investment by the company in strengthening its capabilities and broadening its range of financial solutions.
“Our expansion into the Midlands is a deliberate strategic decision rather than a reactive one. We see the Midlands not only as the geographical centre of Zimbabwe but also as one of its most important economic engines,” he said.
Bard Santner is a financial advisory and intermediary firm specialising in asset management, corporate finance and wealth management. The company has offices in New York, United States and Johannesburg, South Africa.
Hungwe said the company was not expanding into the Midlands merely to establish another office but to build lasting relationships with businesses and communities while delivering financial solutions tailored to local economic needs.
He noted that sectors such as mining and agriculture require specialised financial services, adding that many businesses have historically had limited access to customised financial solutions.
The company believes the Midlands offers strong long-term growth prospects due to its abundant mineral resources, expanding industrial activity, vibrant agricultural sector and entrepreneurial population.
Hungwe said financial institutions have a responsibility to support economic development by improving access to financial services for individuals, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and corporate clients.
He added that expanding financial inclusion remains a priority for the company , particularly for businesses and individuals who continue to face barriers to accessing financial services.
Looking ahead, Bard Santner intends to deepen its presence in the Midlands by increasing accessibility, introducing innovative financial solutions and creating more platforms that encourage investment, entrepreneurship and business collaboration.
“We are committed to listening before advising, partnering before selling and creating value before seeking returns. Our ambition is to become the financial partner of choice for businesses, entrepreneurs, professionals and families throughout the Midlands,” Hungwe said.
Meanwhile , the company sees the Midlands as a strategic growth region and intends to contribute to its economic development through long-term partnerships with businesses and local communities.
