Kadoma set to shine: Bindura University’s new hub sparks excitement

Bindura University of Science Education

Kadoma is on the cusp of becoming Zimbabwe's latest educational hotspot, thanks to the upcoming Bindura University of Science Education( BUSE) Kadoma Learning Centre campus.

This development has locals buzzing with anticipation, and for good reason. The city's strategic location and growing infrastructure make it an ideal hub for academic excellence, poised to attract students and scholars from across the region.

The university is situated at the Cotton Training Institute site along Kadoma-Patchway road, where learning is set to take place.

The city's residents can look forward to a surge in economic activity, with . Local businesses, from accommodation providers to retail shops, are likely to benefit from the influx of students and staff. Infrastructure upgrades, including roads, housing, and amenities, are on the cards to support the growth.

The university's focus on science education aligns perfectly with Zimbabwe's push for innovation and technological advancement.

Speaking to the City of Kadoma director of housing, Aaron Masembura, said they were welcoming the Science Education University with open arms and were geared to support the initiative.

"The city is geared to support this initiative, and we are looking at upgrading infrastructure to cater for the influx of students and staff,” he said.

“We are also waiting for the Memorandum of Understanding to be finalised, but all systems are going for BUSE to start their operations.

“We are excited about the potential impact on our community. The university will not only create jobs but also open up opportunities for local students to access quality education without leaving Kadoma.”

Also speaking on the proposed Kadoma Polytechnic, Masembura said that they had written to the Ministry responsible about having a Polytechnic in Kadoma as well.

"We have written to the responsible authorities about establishing a polytechnic in Kadoma, and there's already land reserved for it. We are hopeful that this will further enhance our city's educational landscape," he said

Experts predict the university will not only boost Kadoma's profile but also contribute to the country's human capital development. Kadoma has since attracted Universities with the availability of Women's University in Rimuka , and now the coming of BUSE will ease the burden of those who were having difficulties in trying to study and upgrade themselves as well.

Local youths were in full joy as they said it was a game-changer and will take advantage of studying in their locality.

“This is a game-changer for us, I can now pursue my degree in science without leaving Kadoma. The opportunities are endless,” said the youth.

“I am stoked about the potential job opportunities, especially in tech and innovation. Kadoma is about to get a whole lot more happening,” said another resident.
