Ckanyiso Dat Guy on drug abuse tour

COMEDIAN and actor, Ckanyiso Dat Guy has embarked on a nationwide tour elevating the fight against drug abuse in all 10 provinces of the country.

The tour kicked off last month in the capital at Hometown and went to Gweru’s public library.

This month the comedian will take the tour to Kadoma at the Hot Plate and Grill and Kwekwe.

“I am joining the fight against drug abuse hence I am visiting universities which are most prone to substance and alcohol abuse,” he said.

“It’s a move to conscientise youths against the use of drugs and also trying to find solutions for those who are already hooked on substances and that’s being done through jokes and satire. I am using the medium which youths can relate to and the language that makes sense to them. If you want to impact a community or society, you have to be one of them.

“Drugs have killed many and future careers. It's now a pandemic which needs to be dealt with before a whole generation is wiped out by drugs and substance abuse: “We shall be having sit downs at these shows and we will also talk about and share experiences of mental health which also has become a pandemic. We are a generation, which is dealing with a lot yet we have less in an economy that has demotivated a lot of young minds.”

Ckanyiso has featured on the satirical television series Special Class where he stars as Buju. He was part of the sold out comedy roast of Norton member of parliament Temba Mliswa at the last Shoko festival.
