Zim’s coveted dinner, awards night beckons

The glitzy annual ceremony recognises and honours outstanding individuals and organisations who are trailblazing in the development of communities in Zimbabwe.

ZIMBABWEANS have an opportunity to celebrate with an array of trailblazers at the fourth edition of the coveted Zim Community Trailblazers Awards (ZCTA) set for Friday at the Harare International Conference Centre.

The glitzy annual ceremony recognises and honours outstanding individuals and organisations who are trailblazing in the development of communities in Zimbabwe.

ZCTA board chairman Nigel Chanakira said the minister of State in the President’s Office Lovemore Matuke will be among the guestswho include ICT minister Tatenda Mavetera, Primary and Secondary Education minister Torerai Moyo and Pastor Ruth Musarurwa.

High profile people set to grab the honours include all-rounder cricket star Sikandar Raza, Trauma Centre owner Vivek Solanki, real estate mogul Ken Sharpe,  high-riding musician Gemma Griffiths, legendary drummer-cum actor Chibhodhoro and Black Umfolosi.

Zim Community Trailblazers awards director Johaness Marisa said this year’s  edition will provide a greater focus on the health and disability sectors.

“We have Doctor Solanki and  Christine Peta  who is the national director of disability affairs who will also grace the event,” Marisa said.

The brightest stars in local music who are vying for the awards are Black Umfolosi, Freeman, Nutty O, Reverend Chivaviro and  DJ Tamuka.

VIP dinner tickets  are going for US$100 while ordinary tickets in the VIP section are US$50
