Funeral company reaches out marginalised communities

FAST-growing and newly established Gweru-based Remembrance Funeral Services has started a decentralisation drive in a bid to offer services to remote communities.

The funeral company was established in 2023 and opened its first branch in Plumtree before spreading its wings to open branches in Gweru, Filabusi and Gokwe.

In an interview with Standard Style Remembrance director Annie Ndlovu said the idea of decentralising was to ensure services were taken to the people, particularly in remote areas.

“The idea is to take services closer to the people,” Ndlovu said.

“Everyone should get a decent burial wherever they are and that is why we want to reach every corner of the country.

“We offer affordable products so that we cater for all social status levels.”

She said the company would soon open a branch in Shurugwi as part of its expansion programme.

When the company opened its Gokwe branch late last year Chief Njelele of Gokwe commended it as a “fast growing and unique” funeral services company to bring services to remote areas.

Ndlovu said plans by the company to go international are at an advanced stage as it seeks to offer affordable repatriation services in regional markets such as South Africa and the United Kingdom among others.

She said the funeral company was driven by its mission which she said was to “provide exceptional funeral services which exceed our client's expectations by being professional, empathetic, caring, discreet, honest and ensuring the dignity of our clients is maintained at all times”.

She said the company valued integrity, compassion and respect in serving its clients.

“We believe in treating every family we serve with the same care and attention we would give to our loved ones,” she said.

Ndlovu said coffins and caskets were handcrafted by carpenters employed by the company who pay attention to detail and they (caskets and coffins) were suitable for all budgets from as little as $50 up to $900.
