Zimbabwean UK — based cricketer Kudzai Mutiti works in championing community development through sport continue to be recognised on the continent with the founder of Marondera based cricket academy scooping two regional awards.
Founder of Hokima Cricket Academy in Marondera, Mutiti was honoured for his works in contributing to community development at the annual Foya awards last week.
Mutiti was named Foya Eduprenuer of the Year winner for Southern Africa before scooping the second runner up prize in the Most Promising founder of the year in the over 30 years’ category.
The Foya awards seek to recognise and appreciate young founders who are contributing to the development of the African continent while in the process creating sustainable jobs through entrepreneurship.
In an interview with Sports Hub after being named the Eduprenuer of the Year winner for southern Africa and scooping the second –runner up prize in Most Promising founder of the over 30 years’ category, Mutiti said the awards serve as a reminder for their purpose in community development.
“On behalf of the Hokima Cricket Academy board, I am deeply honored that I was named the EduPreneur of the Year at the Foya Awards 2025,” Mutiti said.
“This recognition means so much to our team and the communities we serve—it’s a powerful reminder that purpose-driven work in education is not only being seen, but also celebrated.”
Hokima Cricket Academy is an academy which is dedicated to transforming young talent into skilled athletes and well-rounded individuals, through first-class coaching, professional guidance, and a commitment to lifelong values inspiring champions both on and off the field.

Mutiti is humbled with recognition in the Most Promising Founder of the Year category.
“On a personal note, I’m equally humbled to have been named second runner-up in the Most Promising Founder category,” he said.

Mutiti was nominated for three awards at this year’s Foya awards.
