Zimbabwe’s premier arts event, Shoko Festival, is gearing up for its 15th anniversary this September, and Jnr Spragga, the current sensation in Zim Dancehall, is slated as a headline performer.
The festival, themed The Legacy XV, is regarded as the nation’s largest arts gathering, drawing both local and international interest.
Shoko Festival has been instrumental in spotlighting urban culture and fostering dialogue over the past decade and a half.
Jnr Spragga, touted as a reincarnation of the late superstar Soul Jah Love, has seen a rapid ascent since hitting the mainstream.
He boasts of hits — Ma Rulez, Ma 2K, Bad and Zvakufaya.
A statement from Shoko Festival emphasizes this milestone edition: “This milestone edition celebrates 15 years of pushing artistic boundaries, celebrating creative free expression and elevating urban culture in Zimbabwe and beyond.”
The festival’s lineup also includes Zim hip-hop artists Bagga and Runna Rulez, as well as Zimdancehall artist Madedido.
The festival is scheduled to run from September 25 to 27, with events spread across various venues in Harare and Chitungwiza.
