Agent Swaks said it was his hope that someday he will use music to repair the damage and building a positive image for the good of Shurugwi.

THERE is great potential for the community of Shurugwi to restore its tarnished reputation and improve its public image, says musician Tafadzwa Chinungu, aka Agent Swaks.

Lately, much has been said of the exceptionally negative image of the mineral rich community of Shurugwi.

Agent Swaks said it was his hope that someday he will use music to repair the damage and building a positive image for the good of Shurugwi.

Highly known for hooliganism and violence owing to illegal gold mining activities, the community of Shurugwi has suffered negative consequences.

“I love Shurugwi because it is my home and I live here with my family,” Agent Swaks.

“I want to use my talent to change the negative stories and share it’s positives since there is no one who sees the need to do that right now.”

Despite having been born in Mabvuku in the capital city, Agent Swanks feels he has found a new home in Shurugwi.

“When you get into Shurugwi the story is different,” he said.

“You are free and safe contrary to the stories of MaShurugwi that are told out there.”

Agent Swaks has two music albums – Musombidhiya released in 2016 and Ngatubotelwe, which features Future Ncube released in 2020.

He said music was a tool for edutainment and should be used accordingly to promote a positive change and development.

“I use music to advice and promote unity,” he said.

“It is one tool l found to be easy in sharing messages of love and togetherness, which l found to be important in our desire to uphold ubuntu/hunhu.

“In my new work that l am putting together you will witness more detailed encouragement and building of out small mining town.”
