Milton Park Nursery School entrenches responsible living

Marcel Miller, an administrator at the nursery school, said they were a brand that cares and they feel compelled to lend a hand to the most need of society with their students in tow so that they also learn the virtues of compassion.

Milton Park Nursery School, a fully-fledged and professional early childhood education center in Harare has taken its child development drive notches higher with its deliberate investment in corporate social responsibility, responsible living and community engagement.

In line with this drive, the institution recently reached out to Ruoko RwaMwari Children’s Trust in Mt Hampden where they donated a consignment of groceries as well as winter wear and also paid school fees for all the children under the trust’s care.

Speaking to Standard Style, Marcel Miller, an administrator at the nursery school, said they were a brand that cares and they feel compelled to lend a hand to the most need of society with their students in tow so that they also learn the virtues of compassion.

“The true essence of living is in sparing a thought for others and central to our operations is a desire to bring value to our community through wholesome education that inspires positive and selfless living,” Miller said.

“Our compassionate initiatives are therefore not an afterthought, but are embedded in our organisational design and operational parameters.

“The donation to Ruoko RwaMwari Children Trust is, therefore, one of the many initiatives we continue to champion so that we lessen the burden on the less privileged members of society.

“We know the challenges that come with living without parents or financially capable guardians especially for the young ones hence the generous donation.”

Miller said they felt fulfilled to have reached out to the over 52 vulnerable children and will always continue to invest in many such noble initiatives for the good of humanity.

“We understand what it means and the challenges posed by starting out with nothing or so little in life,” she said.

“We are, therefore, assisting orphans among other underprivileged children at Ruoko RwaMwari Children’s Trust through food donations and school fee payments for each and every child.

“This venture is not the first and will not be the last as we continue contributing to the development of responsible and humane citizens through our tailored curricula as well as other such noble community interventions.”

Though situated in the generally challenging area of Mount Hampden’s slum, Ruoko rwaMwari Trust stands as a beacon of hope, providing refuge and a chance at a brighter future for over 52 vulnerable children and Milton Nursery School’s public relations executive Tichaona Marembo said their gesture was timely and also aligned to their mission statement.

“The initiative aligns perfectly with Milton Park Nursery School’s mission statement, which says ‘It Takes A Big Heart to Shape Little Minds’. The journey to Mount Hampden, therefore, demonstrates our clarity of intent where service and care for others is concerned,” he said.

“ We are fully committed to the service of humanity and we are proud that this is an ideal not only espoused through our institutional leadership but is being entrenched in our students as they participate in such charitable works,” Marembo said.

Margaret Kamwaza, one of the key facilitators at Ruoko RwaMwari Children’s Trust, could not hide her elation and thanked the whole team at Milton Park Nursery School for their gesture.

“We are so grateful to our friends from Milton Park Nursery School, such selflessness is invaluable and we pray that the good Lord continues to guide and bless them as they continue in service to others,” she said.

“You have made life easier for us through this generous donation and I am sure you can tell from the smiles that you have put on our children’s faces.

“May the heavens shower you with blessings and may your institution grown from strength to strength.”

Mwanza’s sentiments were echoes by Pastor Wilbert Shikova, a spiritual guide and facilitator at the trust, who in his acceptance speech made a plea for further support towards the home.

“I have not seen such commitment and regard for others as demonstrated by Milton Park Nursery School and I pray that we get more such well-wishers coming to support our efforts towards the welfare of the less privileged kids housed here,” he said.

“We humbly appeal and welcome other well-wishers to support us with whatever assistance they can avail so that we can cushion these orphans with love as well, and rescue them from the wrath of th unsanitary conditions they are living in.”
