Five Star Car Hire Travel and Tours chief executive officer Tawanda Marwizi has been named Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year at the just-ended Zimbabwe CEO’s Network Awards, an event that celebrates excellence and innovation in business leadership across the country.
Marwizi, who is also the founder of the Tawanda Marwizi Foundation, was recognised for his exceptional leadership, business acumen, and commitment to community development — particularly his philanthropic work in Buhera South, his rural home.
In an interview after receiving the award, Marwizi expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, saying it was a reflection of teamwork, resilience, and the importance of giving back to society.
“It’s truly an honour to be recognised by such a respected organisation like the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network,” said Marwizi.
“This award is not just for me, but for everyone who has walked this journey with me — my family, my colleagues at Five Star, and the communities we serve through the Foundation. It reminds us that business should not only be about profit, but about purpose and impact.”
The Zimbabwe CEO’s Network Awards are held annually to celebrate outstanding executives, entrepreneurs, and innovators who have made significant contributions to Zimbabwe’s corporate and socio-economic landscape.
The awards have become one of the most prestigious recognitions for business leaders in the country.
Under Marwizi’s leadership, Five Star Car Hire Travel and Tours has grown from a small car rental operation into a respected brand offering reliable transport, travel, and logistics solutions.

The company has been commended for its customer service, innovation, and role in creating employment opportunities for young people in the transport and tourism sector.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Marwizi has made notable contributions through the Tawanda Marwizi Foundation, a charity organisation focused on education, youth empowerment, and community development.
Through the Foundation, he has spearheaded several initiatives in Buhera South, including a soccer tournament that has helped scout and nurture young football talent. Some of the players identified during the tournament have since joined soccer academies in Harare.
“Growing up in Buhera, I witnessed the challenges faced by rural youth — limited opportunities, lack of exposure, and few role models,” Marwizi said.
“That’s why we started the foundation, to inspire and support young people to believe in their dreams, whether in business, sports, or education. We must build communities where success stories are not an exception, but the norm.”
Marwizi, a multiple award-winning entrepreneur, has previously been recognised for excellence in leadership, innovation, and community service.
Colleagues describe him as a visionary who combines business growth with a strong sense of social responsibility.
As he accepted the latest honour, Marwizi pledged to continue driving growth at Five Star Car Hire while expanding his foundation’s outreach efforts.
“Awards motivate us to do more,” he said. “Zimbabwe is full of talent and potential — it’s up to business leaders to help unlock it. I’m committed to playing my part in creating opportunities that uplift others.”
The event was attended by prominent business executives, policymakers and development partners who commended Marwizi’s contribution to both entrepreneurship and social transformation.
