Kadoma college adds driving to curriculum

Bright Future College's driving school

Kadoma-based Bright Future College has made history by becoming the first learning institution in Sanyati district to introduce a driving school into its curriculum — a pioneering step aimed at equipping students with practical, market-ready skills.

The groundbreaking programme, launched on Wednesday at the college’s Rimuka campus, is expected to transform the way learners acquire technical competencies and prepare for employment.

Vehicles for training were paraded during the colourful ceremony, attended by educationists, police officers, representatives from various organisations and the guest of honour, Sanyati district schools inspector Joseph Majasi.

Also present was Edward Madziro, ZB Bank Kadoma branch manager, whose branch played a key role in assisting the college to acquire the training vehicles.

The partnership, college officials said, highlights the power of collaboration between the private sector and educational institutions in supporting innovation.

Bright Future College, with a total enrollment of 336 learners (181 boys and 155 girls), is run by two young education entrepreneurs — Conwell Mushangwe and Luckson Disimasi — supported by a team of nine full-time teachers.

The directors said the driving school was part of the institution’s commitment to offering practical, industry-relevant training in line with the government’s Education 5.0 philosophy, which prioritises technical and vocational skills under the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of leaving no one behind.

“We are thrilled to be the first college in Sanyati district to offer driving lessons as part of our curriculum,” said Mushangwe.

“This initiative aligns with our mission to provide students with practical skills that meet industry demands.

“We believe the programme will benefit our learners and contribute to community development.”

Majasi praised the college for setting an example in embracing Education 5.0.

“I am impressed by the college’s commitment to providing skills and knowledge to its students,” he said.

“Bright Future College is the third-best college in Mashonaland West and the best in Sanyati district, and this achievement speaks to its dedication to excellence.

“As the saying goes, ‘A nation that invests in education invests in its future.’ Today, Bright Future College is investing in the future of its students and the nation at large.”

Madziro echoed similar sentiments.
