Today Peter Moyo teams up with Alick Macheso and Progress Chipfumo for a commemorative show at Mbizo Stadium.

The show is expected to be a thriller as Peter gets a chance to get closer to Macheso, who at one time was his father’s arch-rival career wise and was commonly referred to as “Dhewa’s sworn enemy”. Peter needs all the support he can get. Who better  to offer him support than the sungura ace, Macheso, who is by any measure the most successful sungura artist to date.

It has also been an advantage for Peter that his father’s fan base has stood with him, as well as the promoters, who are pivotal for any artist’s growth.

What is left is for the Young Igwe to nurture a relationship with his band and look at them as his family.

Locally, it has become normal that band members get fired at will by the leaders, but such a move would be ill-advised, especially for one who needs to grow.

All the members of his band are more senior than him and he has a lot to learn from them.

He may need to instil discipline here and there but then he must let that be the manager’s role and more importantly, flexing muscles should not be done at the expense of the future of the band.
