Zimbabwe international forward Nyasha Mushekwi’s move to Belgian Pro Jupiler League side KV Oostende hangs in the balance following a deadlock in transfer discussions between the Belgians and his club Mamelodi Sundowns.

With Mushekwi’s agreed transfer fee of over ¤1 million supposed to be paid in yearly installments, Oostende are pushing to include in his contract a clause that spells a reduction in the fee if they are relegated from the top-flight league, something that Sundowns are declining.
If the 25-year-old Zimbabwean completes a move to Oostende, he would become the Pro League returnees’ record signing. Sundowns initially demanded ¤2 million but later on reduced following a plea by Oostende.
Mushekwi’s agent Ralph Nkomo is confident the striker’s move would be completed early this week.
“We expect to finalise and tie a deal by Monday [tomorrow],” said Nkomo.
“The best option now is for him to sign a one-year contract with the option of extending his stay there if Oostende stays in the top-flight league but would be transferred if they are relegated with Oostende compensated by the next club.”
The Pro Jupiler League began last weekend and Mushekwi, who is still training with the club after passing medicals almost a month ago, will miss today’s home clash with Club Brugge.
