The biannual event is expected to run from October 19 to 23, with 15 countries set to take part in this prestigious golf tournament. The Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) named a strong four-member team, that will be aiming to raise the country’s flag high at the five-day event.
2012-Lowveld Pro-am champion Christian Mbanga was named the team’s captain in a list that also includes Mutare-based golfer Biggie Chibvuri, Thembelani Vundla and Nguru.
Zimbabwe ended fourth the last time they took part at the biannual golf challenge at Benoni Lake in South Africa.
In an interview with Standardsport on Thursday, Nguru, who has won a couple of local tournaments this year, said their chances of claiming the title are high.
“We have got a talented team that can match any team in Africa, so we have high chances of winning the tournament, also taking into consideration that the last time we performed better in South Africa,’’ he added.
“Personally, I have been preparing for this tournament, and I am ready. We will be leaving the country on Friday next week ahead of the tournament,’’ added Nguru.
