The league under the stewardship of Chairman Felton Kamambo has managed to lure 16 teams to fight for the promotional ticket into topflight league.

A steady rise in the region is in the pipeline as the bosses have promised that a deal to get a sponsorship for their league is on the horizon.

A number of the teams in the current campaign have promised that their objective is to win the league’s ultimate price and they have justified it by their business in the transfer window.

2014 premiership retreats Shabanie Mine — relegated from the country’s top flight league last year — are determined to make an immediate return to elite football.

Their campaign will be boosted by the presence of players with top level experience like Nyasha Mpofu, Tinashe Kabanda, Talbort Mutombeni and Fidelis Mangezi in their ranks.

Arnold Jani, who was their assistant coach in the topflight, will be leading their technical department and his presence will ensure continuity.

Last season runners up MSU have roped in former Shabanie Mine trio of Smart Muchabaiwa, Farai Mususunye and Hamilton Masumbuko to add some quality to their team as they seek to go a step further from last year’s campaign. Border Strikers is also not meek on premiership experience, they have former Tripple B trio Michael Variso, Givemore Fireyi and Redeem Ncube who are joined by former Bantu Rovers duo of Prince Sibanda and Ray Lunga. Vumbachikwe have the likes of Charles Maguraushe in their ranks to look up to and they are also expected to make a big shout in determining who will be promoted.

Forgotten Gweru United is another team to beat in this campaign. They have roped in vastly experienced and former Tripple B head coach Peter Manoti to lead the technical department.

The highlight of today’s fixtures will be a Kwekwe derby pitting Chrome Stars against Ivan Hoe at Chrome Stadium.
