According to the spokesperson of the tournament organisers, Charles Mabika, they had to reschedule the match to a date which will be made known in due course after engaging former Cup kings CAPS United to fill in the void left by DeMbare and the Green Machine leadership agreed.

“We had to reschedule the match after we failed to reach an agreement with Dynamos over the non-payment of their prize money in last year’s event. So we were left with no option, but to engage CAPS United, who agreed,” Mabika said.

An official from DeMbare confirmed the development.

“This was a decision made at board level after making consultations. I think the problem emanated from the fact that we did not get our prize money last year after participating in the same competition,” the official said.

Mabika could not be drawn to reveal whether this year’s event had full backing, which will not see a repeat of last year where participating clubs failed to get their prize money.
