Army scared as change approaches
Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:28

The treasonous statements made by Zimbabwe Defence Forces Chief of Staff, Major General Martin Chedondo, in Mutoko recently, that soldiers are part of Zimbabwean politics, are a true sign that the military and police in Zimbabwe are panicking about the imminent defeat of Zanu PF by the MDC in the next elections.

Degrees not an issue in leadership
Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:27

Professor Lovemore Madhu-ku is, once again, meddling  in Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) affairs.

Nothing traditional about kongonya dancing
Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:27

Kongonya, a dance women are made to perform mainly at Zanu PF rallies, is very degrading and pornographic, to say the least.

Desperate Zanu PF loses the plot
Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:27

Zanu PF’s desperate attempts to derail the constitution-making process have assumed ridiculous proportions.

editor hits the nail on the head
Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:25

EDITOR Nevanji Madanhire has outdone himself on this one: (Moyo fears elections under new constitution: Sunday, May 6 2012).

Zanu PF desperate to stop new charter
Sunday, 06 May 2012 12:49

It is clear that the issue of the constitution was never part of the  Zanu PF agenda from the word go. Events which characterised the first all-stakeholders conference meeting at Rainbow Towers and the disturbances at the constitution outreach programmes, all point to the fact that the party has been trying to sabotage the making of the new constitution. Misguided individuals, some of whom are touted as political analysts, have been lined up to rubbish the drafters and discredit the whole exercise.

Uhuru celebrations, a stage-managed fallacy
Sunday, 06 May 2012 12:48

The National Sports stadium was filled to capacity on April 18 2012, as thousands of Zimbabweans converged to mark Independence Day celebrations.

What law compels vendors to attend functions?
Sunday, 06 May 2012 12:47

It is common knowledge that vendors at Mupedzanhamo, Chikwanha and Mbare vegetable markets, among others, know that whenever there is a national event such as Independence, Heroes, Defence Forces days or the burial of a national hero, they are supposed to close shop and attend these events.

Moyo in contempt of Parliament
Sunday, 06 May 2012 12:45

If ever there was a reason  to charge Tsholotsho MP, Professsor Jonathan Moyo, with contempt of parliament, it is his widely publicised highly insulting and defamatory tirade against that august house and its members.

’Zimdollarise’ observation spot on
Sunday, 29 April 2012 12:35

I was interested in reading Nevanji Madanhire’s article of April 22 which stated that we have “Zimdollarised” the US dollar regarding our prices on goods, services and commodities.

Demands by chiefs should be rejected with contempt
Sunday, 29 April 2012 12:34

The former ruling party, Zanu PF, made a very unfortunate blunder when it gave traditional leaders cars some years ago. Now, the chiefs, having tasted the sweet trappings of power, like children, are now demanding more from the current government.

At 32, Zim lagging behind in addressing needs
Sunday, 29 April 2012 12:32

Zimbabwe turned 32 on April 18. If it were a woman she would be married with children. At 32 one is expected to be organised, productive and responsible. Indeed, one would be independent from parental control and be a parent themselves. Can Zimbabwe, at 32, be said to be organised, productive, responsible and independent?

No to cosmetic local govt reforms
Saturday, 14 April 2012 19:41

Since last year, parliament has been engaged in a process of pushing for the amendments of the Urban Councils Act (29:15). The legal reforms have been premised on the perpetual abuse of the Act by the incumbent minister, Ignatius Chombo, citing abuse of office (as empowered by the Act), partisan protocols and impunity all against MDC (T&N) councillors.
The minister has allegedly abused the Act in reversing the losses suffered by his political party of affiliation, Zanu PF in local government elections. Zanu PF lost control of at least 28 urban centres to the two MDCs with the one led by Morgan Tsvangirai dominating most.
However, to date, at least 30 councillors have been either dismissed or suspended by the Local Government minister with the latest victim being Lionel De Necker, who was the bonafide Mayor of Gwanda. De Necker was suspended for disregarding a minister’s directive which ordered that Priscilla Nkala take up the post of council secretary. Ironically, Priscilla had failed to make it among the top three candidates, according to the interview panel.

‘start your own projects’
Saturday, 14 April 2012 19:41

I refer to the 51%  indigenisation mantra. Those “patriotic muggers”who are busy salivating and readying to pounce and molest existing and new investments are really the most hostile and rabid parasites and national enemies of Zimbabwe.

We cannot rule out foul play in Mujuru death
Saturday, 14 April 2012 19:40

I refer to the recently published results of the inquest into the death of former army commander, General Solomon Mujuru. I am inclined to agree that the remains found were those of the General. DNA testing is that accurate.

Persecuted by police for ‘ugly’ signature
Saturday, 14 April 2012 19:40

On April 3,  I was flagged down by a police  highway patrol unit near Kadoma (Ngezi) by one Sergeant Dube, force number 98103250. She asked if I had a fire extinguisher and red triangle reflectors to which I replied that I didn’t but that my company had already secured some and they were on their way to Kwekwe as we spoke.

Partisan policing stalls youth development
Sunday, 08 April 2012 17:52

In the latest clear signal that the democratic reform agenda of the inclusive government is well off-track, police in Masvingo province have once again barred the Youth Forum from carrying out a road-show that had been penciled for Mupandawana growth-point in Gutu. The road-show was part of the organisation’s “1 Million New Voters Campaign” aimed at encouraging young people to register as voters so that they are eligible to exercise their right to vote during Zimbabwe’s next elections.

When the state turns against its citizens
Sunday, 08 April 2012 17:51

The rather pathetic Zimbabwean political situation is symptomatic of a government that is turning against its own citizens. When independence came in 1980 everyone thought freedom and prosperity would follow. Little did the nation know that our liberators would turn out to be the proverbial wolves in ship’s skins, or should we say whites in black masks.

Governor acted for ZANUPF
Sunday, 08 April 2012 17:50

What the governor of Masvingo, Titus Maluleke  did  in banning non-governmental organisations in the province was wrong, but I do not think it is fair to attack him in his personal capacity or the teaching profession in general or primary school teachers in particular. Our emotions shouldn’t interfere with our judgement. Adequate qualifications and experience alone may not change the complexion of things.

Death predictions unbecoming
Sunday, 08 April 2012 17:46

I am flabbergasted by the hullabaloo over predictions  by Nigerian evangelist, TB Joshua about some unfortunate African despot finally kicking the bucket. Our own rising star, Emmanuel Makandiwa has created a veritable storm by allegedly forecasting turmoil in Zimbabwe in the aftermath of his so-called Judgement Day sermon on Friday night.
