DeMbare add foreign flavour

Dynamos

HARARE football giants Dynamos have gone beyond the borders in search of talent with insiders suggesting that they have signed a top defender from Namibia.

Although the identity of the player could not be established yesterday, NewsDay Sport understands that the Glamour Boys’ target is a Brave Warriors player.

The defender is expected to fly into the country in the next few days to start training with the rest of the team. Informed sources said a deal has already been struck between the two parties and that the player has been identified as one of the key cogs to help revolutionarise  the Dynamos back line as they seek to mount a serious challenge on the championship this term.

The Glamour Boys have also signed Elvis Moyo from Bulawayo Chiefs and striker Nyasha Chintuli from Ngezi Platinum, among others.

Chintuli, a former Manica Diamond forward, scored nine goals in the last campaign.

While Dynamos are said to be still busy in the transfer market targeting to sign more stars, it is the signing of the Namibian defender which suggests they are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to wrestle the championship with FC Platinum who have dominated in the last four years in which they won four league titles on the trot.

Dynamos finished third in the race last term behind champions FC Platinum and Chicken Inn.

DeMbare’s failure to win the league title claimed the scalp of head coach Tonderai Ndiraya whose contract was not renewed after it expired on December 31 last year. The Harare football giants have now appointed new coach Herbert Maruwa to replace Ndiraya. Maruwa has moved to reshuffle the squad as he seeks to assemble a relatively young team of an average age of 25.
