Rambanepasi believes Dynamos, who reached the finals in 1998 and the semi-finals in 2008, can actually go all the way in this year’s edition of Africa’s premier club competition.
“I am happy to join Dynamos because I felt I needed new challenges in my career,” Rambanepasi told IndependentSport this week. “I had my time at Caps United and made great contributions to the club’s course. No one can begrudge me for leaving. It’s time to move on and tackle new challenges. Mvura isingaereri haina kwainoenda.
“I want to be part of success. I have confidence and belief that this time around Dynamos will lift the Champions League trophy.”
The gritty Zimbabwe holding midfielder rejoined Caps United at the beginning of the 2009 season after returning home from England.
Rambanepasi’s acrimonious move to Dynamos has created tension between the two old foes. This paper understands that Caps fans have vowed to make it difficult for Rambanepasi each time the two Harare rivals meet.
Dynamos fans are naturally delighted about snatching their great enemy’s captain. Yet Rambanepasi, one of the best players still plying their trade in Zimbabwe, was modest about his playing opportunities at DeMbare.

“I know Dynamos have good and experienced midfielders,” he said. “However I’m optimistic that I will make the grade. I am ready to work hard and I hope the coach will give me the chance to prove my ability. I know I can add value to the team. I also know that fans are hard to please, especially Dynamos fans. But I promise to play good football and help the team win games. I hate losing.”
Rambanepasi admitted that his decision to join the Glamour Boys was also motivated by a desire to make an impression in Africa as a springboard to European football.
“Dynamos is a big club,” he said. “I made a career-motivated move. Money was not the biggest motivator, not to say we mustn’t be paid. We are professionals. We deserve better packages. Most of us guys are breadwinners.”
He paid tribute to Caps fans.
“To all Caps United supporters, thank you for the memories. It is unfortunate we have to part ways. I hope those who will replace me are still good enough to produce results.”
