Grisham from South Africa was the winner of the Castle Tankard a fortnight ago at the same course. Rode by Karis Teetan, Grisham beat Eight Street on the home stretch to take the cash purse of US$25 000.
Carrying the 57-kilogram jockey Teetan, from the Noeleen Peech stable, Grisham was in hot form and was impressive in galloping to victory.
In second place was Eight Street from Kirk Swanson stable rode by Quinton Riddle.
Eight Street, from Australia, performed dismally in the Castle Tankard race a fortnight ago but yesterday breathed down the neck of Grisham. It secured US$8 000.
Zimbabwe’s Captain’s Tiger was in third place, also from the Swanson stable pocketing US$4 000. Rode by jockey Sherman Brown who was in charge the last time in the Castle Tankard, Captain’s Tiger followed in closely Eight Street.
In fourth place was South Africa’s Imperial Dice from the Noeleen Peech Stable. Rode by Guillermo Figuero pocketed US$2 000. Huffing and puffing Imperial Dice could not match the pace of Grisham. A bumper crowd watched the OK Grand Challenge race yesterday at Borrowdale Race Course before the draw of the vehicles.
