The Zimbabwe Karate Union (ZKU) has appointed Sensei Joe Rugwete as the Unions Chief Referee. This development saw the new Chief Referee and National Team Coach, Shihan Paul Danisa travelling to the Lowveld where a briefing on the new rules and a tactical training session were held in Triangle on the November 19.
The Zimbabwe Karate Union will host the annual Champion of Champions Karate Tournament in Kwekwe on December 10 this year. This is usually the biggest event on the calendar and a central venue was decided upon to conveniently cater for karatekas from all provinces of Zimbabwe.
In line with international practice, there will be two referees courses to be conducted by Rugwete. The first one shall be in Harare this Wednesday at Alex Sports Club and the 2nd shall be at the competition venue in Kwekwe on the eve of the competition.
