The Cheetahs are caged in Pool E together with Canada and Spain in a 12-team tournament which will see the two finalists and the winner of the third and fourth play-off earning core team status on the 2012/13 Series.
South Africa and Kenya are the only two teams on the continent with core status. The tournament will be played on March 23-25 at the Hong Kong Stadium, and the Cheetahs will use next week’s International Spar Sevens Series as part of their preparations. Team manager Bruce Hobson said the time motion analyst will help the technical team in knowing the work rate of the players as they are taking the Hong Kong Series seriously.
“We have a good chance of making it to the next stage so we have to do everything in our power to achieve that feat. All national team players will have a device placed in a vest and that device will check their work rate.
“We will use this device at the Spar Sevens series as well as next month’s Spar International Sevens series. This is a huge development for the team,” he said.
