BY MICHAEL MADYIRA Former CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe looks set to replace Rahman Gumbo as the substantive coach at FC Platinum. Tendai Chikuni has been holding the reins at Mandava Stadium on an interim basis since the sacking of Gumbo early last month.

Although the platinum miners have denied any links with Chitembwe, sources in Zvishavane have revealed that the flamboyant club had already opened talks with the former CAPS United midfielder.

The stumbling block to Chitembwe’s Platinum move could be his former employers CAPS United who are said to be still keen on him.

Close sources said Farai Jere declared in one of their  recent meetings that he would lure back Chitembwe.

FC Platinum secretary, Philemon Muvengwa, as has become the norm, denied the club had interest in Chitembwe.

“It is just rumours that we are interested in Chitembwe. Obviously we are looking for a coach because we need to have someone on a permanent basis.

“It is a long process where we are carefully considering our targets whom I cannot reveal at the moment,” said Muvengwa.

But sources said the platinum miners are trying to lure Chitembwe and his long-time friend Kennedy Nagoli who would assist him.

“Negotiations are already underway. The club has approached Lloyd and Nagoli. Remember Lloyd was already earmarked to replace Rahman Gumbo back in May when the latter was almost fired in the first place,” said the source
