ZIMBABWE’S only representative in the CAF Champions League, Dynamos, was by last night struggling to finalise the squad for this year’s edition of the tournament.

The deadline for CAF registration was 12 mid-night, but the team was still to finalise their final squad by 8 o’clock.
The team’s secretary general Raymond Kazembe said they were still negotiating with the bulk of the players and their respective clubs.
“That is what we are currently in the middle of negotiating with other clubs. I think we will have finished by 9 o’clock,” he said.
However, a source close to the negotiations revealed that the club was having problems with other clubs over their players.
Most Dynamos players such as Soccer star of the Year Denver Mukamba and Devon Chafa have their contracts expiring on December 31 and had to negotiate for new contracts.
Their handler Gibson Mahachi allayed fears that the duo might not sign.“Dynamos will certainly retain Chafa and Mukamba and there will be no problem even if they register them but we are just negotiating for new contracts,” he said.

They were however, believed to have sealed the deals of goalkeeper Artwell Mukandi and Steven Alimenda, Chicken Inn’s Sydney Linyama and Francisco Zikumbawere of Hwange.
Meanwhile, Dynamos chairman Keni Mubaiwa was on Friday night turned away from the Soccer Star of the Year awards night after turning up for the banquet casually dressed.
Mubaiwa was among several people who were barred from attending the “strictly formal” awards held at a Harare hotel.
The Dynamos boss arrived when guests were already seated in the auditorium but was blocked at the entrance where he spent about 30 minutes trying to negotiate his way in.
Clad in a blue coat, pair of jean trousers, a blue shirt, a boston hat and farmer shoes, Mubaiwa claimed he had not read the instruction on the invitation card stating formal wear.
“I did not notice that formal wear is required here. I was coming from out of town and passed by my office where I just picked my invite and rushed here,” Mubaiwa explained to the ushers and security manning the entrance.
Even the intervention of some Premier Soccer League officials and event organisers could not help.
