Bowls Zimbabwe President Malcom Evans confirmed the tournament to Standardsport this week.

“We will be having our National Championships from March 29 to April 6. We are expecting 29 clubs which will be drawn from across the country to participate at these championships. Both male and female bowlers will take part,” said Evans.

During the nine-day tournament, over 80 bowlers are expected to showcase their skills while the country’s top bowler, Roy Garden, who will represent the nation at the World indoor Bowls Championships in Australia next month, will use the national championships to prepare for the task ahead.

Some of the top bowlers that will take part include Clive Robertson, Tom Craven, Ritchie Hyaden and Manuel Silva among others.

The National Championships will also serve as preparations for the Africa States tournament which is usually penciled around mid-year.
