Centre back Crispen Dickson thrust City ahead 14 minutes into the second half with a ferocious shot, before substitute Crybert Muvuti’s headed goal seven minutes before time helped City assert their control with six points clear at the top.

But trailing Dynamos and Highlanders who share 31 points each could cut the lead to three points if they overcome Black Rhinos and Hwange respectively this afternoon.

Osborne Mukuradare narrowly missed the target with a low drive inside the box as early as the first minute and William Manondo was denied by goalkeeper Francis Tizayi in a face-to-face situation two minutes later to underline City’s victory intentions.

The visitors only managed to respond after the half-hour mark through Mitchelle Katsvairo’s wide effort which was their only meaningful chance of the opening half. Manondo could have put City ahead on the stroke of halftime but shot just over bar from Martin Vengesai’s cross.

In a second half that started slowly, Aaron Katebe brought down Manondo on the edge of the box to earn City a free kick which Nathan Ziwini appeared to be going straight for goal but slid the ball to Dickson who released a scorcher past a stranded Tizayi.

Daniel Vheremu hit the post with a header three minutes from time in FC Platinum’s last attempt at goal .
