The Cuthbert Dube-led board met on Thursday and analysed the recommendations which also touched on other national teams.

Indications are that the HPTC called for Gorowa’s expulsion after the coach irked the John Phiri-chaired committee by producing inadequately-prepared reports they had requested from him.

He also had a public spat with Phiri’s deputy, Gibson Homela.

Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela said they will announce the decision on Gorowa as well as other national team coaches today.

“The issue of national team coaches has been concluded after the Zifa board met on Thursday. John Phiri presented to the board the report compiled by the high performance committee. A decision would be made by this weekend and will be announced on Sunday [today],” said Gwesela.

Gorowa led the Warriors to the worst ever campaign in their international football history following a first round exit from the Afcon qualifiers at the hands of little Tanzania.

Lloyd Chigova is currently in charge of the Under-17 team, Jairos Tapera oversees the Under-20s, while Kalisto Pasuwa was verbally appointed Under-23 coach after Peter Ndlovu quit for a managerial post at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Under-17 and 20s are currently serving a CAF ban after failing to fulfill their respective away assignments in 2012.

Zimbabwean football has hit an all-time low with the Mighty Warriors also failing to qualify for the African Women’s Championships.

The quick exit from the Afcon qualifiers has thrown the Warriors into international football isolation.

Zifa are yet to announce plans for the junior national teams to keep them active during their ban as well as building a Warriors team that would do duty after the end of their self-imposed isolation.
