FC PLATINUM lifted the ZNA Charity shied after a 6-0 rout of CAPS United in the final at Mandava yesterday.
A hat-trick by Zambian import Obrey Chirwa plus strikes by Walter Musona, Tarisayi Rukanda and George Nyirenda condemned the Green Machine to their heaviest defeat in memory.
It is a result that owes a lot to the Zambian forward Chirwa who had a hand in all the half a dozen goals, scoring three and having a hand in the other three goals.
The match was scrapped of it’s shine when referee Rugare Kusosa dished out three red cards to the Harare giants trio of David Chipala, David Nyirenda and Hardlife Zvirekwi.
After the convincing victory Norman Mapeza commended his charges for a job well done.
“It was a good result for us but those red cards were unfortunate. But I don’t want to comment much on that. I just want to congratulate the boys for a job well done,” said Mapeza. CAPS United coach Taurai Mangwiro was apologetic at the end of a hiding, describing the officiating as a circus.

“It is a disgraceful day for CAPS United and my apologies to the CAPS United family and the travelling fans. It was a circus but I don’t want to comment on the referee,” said Mangwiro.
Chirwa opened his account in the second minute when he tapped in a low cross from Rukanda.
On the stroke of half-time, the Zambian doubled the lead when he timed his run to perfection and fired a low shot from an intelligent feed by Tatenda Dzumbunu.
Chipala protested the goal and was given his marching orders. Eight minutes after the breather, Nyirenda deflected Chirwa’s cross into his own net beating Jorum Muchambo in goals for the Mangwiro-coached side.
Five minutes later, Rukanda tapped the fourth from a Chirwa assist, again beating Muchambo who had a shameful day in office by the standards of professional football.
Nyirenda capped his terrible day when he was ordered to follow Chipala to the stands for a reckless lunge on Dzumbunu with 20 minutes still to play.
Warriors midfielder Zvirekwi protested the booking and was also given the marching orders.
In the 79th minute Walter Musona was released by the hat trick hero on the right to score the fifth.
Four minutes before full-time Chirwa capped a memorable afternoon with a third goal.
