LLOYD Mutasa recorded his first win of the season as Whawha coach with a narrow 2-1 win over FC Platinum, piling misery on his successor Norman Mapeza at Ascot yesterday.
Roy Useni’s brace outweighed Tarisai Rukanda’s solitary strike to ensure maximum points for the prison guards. The Gweru-based side came into the match without victory in the campaign while FC Platinum was also under pressure to collect maximum points.
After the match winning coach Lloyd Mutasa was happy with the result against his former paymasters. “Maybe it’s just a coincidence that I always come out tops against my former teams, especially in the first match, ” said Mutasa.
Losing coach Norman Mapeza rued a glut of missed chances by his charges.
“It is a sad situation. You see, what happened in the first-half is we should have scored a number of goals. “We controlled the match but we failed to score and as a coach you start getting worried,” said Mapeza. The platinum miners started on the front foot but it was Useni who opened the floodgates, scoring for the host in the 45th minute after Francis Tizayi in goal for FC Platinum punched a long ball into his path.
Rukanda headed the equaliser on the stroke of halftime when he got to the end of a perfect delivery from Raphael Mudhuviwa.
