With the odds heavily staked against them due to the absence of several key players and poor preparations, the Sables dug deep to secure a crucial victory which keeps their hopes of staying in the elite group alive.

Zimbabwe trailed 13-6 at the break as the hosts ran in two tries while Cyprian Mandenge’s men managed just two penalties through flyhalf Tichafara Makwanya.

The Sables, however, rallied back after the break through four unanswered tries courtesy of Hilton Mudariki, Stephan Hunduza and a brace from winger Takudzwa Kumadiro to seal an important 28-16 victory.
