Zvirikuzhe will next month launch her fifth album titled Kwajeka — a 10-track offering.

“The message in the album is to comfort people that no matter trials and tribulations they go through, Jesus is on their side. He is our light in times of darkness,” Zvirikuzhe told The Standard Style.

“On the album I worked with Olinda Marowa, Flame B, Ngoni Alpha Gatsi and my sister Dorcas.”

Zvirikuzhe, who started her career as a backing vocalist for Kudzi Nyakudya, said it was high time she takes her music across the globe.

“Well, I have ministered regionally in Malawi, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa and Swaziland. I am praying that I go internationally now. I want to be a great worshipper not just a mere gospel artist,” she said.

Her previous projects include four albums — Mwari Inhare, Tenzi Chirambakusakara, Restoration and Mutsawashe — and two DVDs — Mutsawashe and Tenzi Chirambakusakara.

In 2007 Zvirikuzhe proved her mettle on the gospel music scene after she was nominated in the Best Female Gospel Artist category at the Zimbabwe Media Awards alongside powerhouses Fungisai Mashavave and Shingisai Suluma.

“It was a great achievement for me, considering that I was just starting as a solo artist. The nomination motivated me and I released more and more albums, which were doing well,” she said.

“My other greatest achievement was featuring on the song Ebenezer, which was done by Reverend Togarepi Chivaviro. It was a hit and one of the biggest collaborations I did in my career.”

Rumbie, as she is popularly known, has worked with artists such as Nyakudya, Lloyd Tevedzai, Rev Chivaviro, Marowa and Tatenda Mahachi, among others.

“Apart from doing collaborations, I have shared the stage with the likes of the Charambas, Fungisai, Mai Siluma, Mathias Mhere, Bethen Pasinawako Ngolomi and Minister Mahendere, just to mention a few.

She said her family was firmly behind her.

“My family supports me a lot. They have been there for me since I started the journey. My young sister Dorcas is the one who helps me with backing vocals,” she said.

Yesterday Rumbie was among a group of gospel artists that took part at the Rindai Evangelical Church Winter Worship Concert held at Longchen Amusement Park in Harare.

The concert, which started at 12pm was headlined by Minister Mahendere and featured Jennifer Maneni, Wellington Kwenda, Mharidzo Hetisani, Rumbie Gatawa, King James and Rindai Evangelical Church worship team.

Songs on the new album, which was produced by Gibson Makumbe of Voice of Thunder include Muponesi, Ndinotenda, Kwajeka, Yera Yera, Psalm 91, Nyasha Dzacho, Chihwerure, Yahweh, Tsime Reruponeso and Ndomutevera.

The album launch will be held on August 2 at Kingdom Life Church in Harare.
