Delta Corporation general manager for lager beer business Munyaradzi Nyandoro spoke highly of their relationship with the top-flight football league at the Castle Soccer Star of the Year Award ceremony held in Harare last Friday.

The contract between the PSL and Castle Lager expires at the end of next season after a renewed threeyear contract in 2017.

Nyandoro expressed his happiness in the manner the PSL management had handled the affairs of the league. “The PSL administration has made it worth the excellent league it is. Thank you to Kenny (Kennedy Ndebele, PSL CEO) for the good work,” said Nyandoro.

This is rare praise for Zimbabwean football, which over the past 20 years has been known more for administration upheavals than for good football leadership.

Only last year, Delta marketing director Maxen Karombo expressed the sponsors’ displeasure over the acrimonious relationship that existed between the Zimbabwe Football Association and the PSL at that time.

The new-found confidence in the PSL comes at a time when Zimbabwean football and Zimbabwean sport as a whole is losing corporate sponsorship due to a number of factors, one of which is lack of confidence in the leadership and the other being the harsh economic climate.
