A Harare woman is demanding US$300 from her ex-husband for the upkeep of their one-month-old baby.
Jacqueline Chikwere told Harare magistrate Sharon Mashavira on Friday that the baby needed medical attention, food and clothing.
Her ex-lover, Chucknorris Chigande said he could not afford the figure saying it was beyond his salary.
“I only earn $300 000 and I have one other minor child, who looks up to me,” Chigande submitted.
“If we receive a salary increment in United States dollars as promised by my employer I will come back to court.”
Chikwere accused Chigande of lying, and asked for permission to approach his employers for proof of his income.
