A Mvurwi farmer is counting losses after cattle rustlers stole and slaughtered three of his beasts and left the carcasses a few meters away from her house.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the case.

"I can confirm that we are hunting for cattle rustlers who stole three cattle in Mvurwi and slaughtered them meters away from the farmer's house,"Mundembe said.

Mundembele identified the victim as Magret Manyika (56) of Plot 33 Prangamere farm in Mvurwi.

It is alleged last week the cattle rustlers slaughtered the stolen cattle and left five sacks of deboned meat in a bushy area.

Police urged farmers to join hands in patrolling in their neighbourhood at night and also practicing collective penning.
