Arrested Guruve serial killer shot

Anymore Zvitsva

Police yesterday finally arrested suspected Guruve serial murderer Anymore Zvitsva after he was shot while hiding in a garden.

Zvitsva, who is believed to have killed at least 12 people including close relatives, had been on the run for nearly three weeks.

Soldiers were deployed in Guruve over a week ago to aid the police in the hunt for the suspected serial killer, who targeted women and children.

Paul Nyathi, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest in a brief statement last night.

The suspect was shot in the leg by a joint team from Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimbabwe National Army while hiding in a garden,” Nyathi said.

“He is now receiving medical attention at a local hospital.

“The police applaud the Guruve community and all Zimbabweans for support rendered during the comprehensive manhunt for the suspect.

“More details on the criminal charges and court appearance will be availed in due course.”

At some point police offered a “huge reward” for anyone with information that could have led to Zvitsva’s capture.

Zvitsva (32) of Bangira Village, Mutsami Kraal, Chief Chipuriro, Guruve, is accused of killing five members of the same family at Plot 9, Ona Farm in the farming town --- Grace Zvitsva (66), Loice Chiringaushe (37), Takudzwa Kariva (five years), Tatenda Chirenje (two years) and Tendai Zvitsva (40) on December 11.

After committing the heinous crimes, he is believed to have retreated into a forest in the mountains.

Zvitsva was also linked to the brutal murder of an elderly woman (55) and a six-month-old infant at Farm 88, Nyakapupu, Guruve on December 18, 2025.

“The victims were found with multiple head injuries,“ Nyathi said at the time.

Guruve residents were now living in fear following reports of several murders, with the number of his victim being put 12.
