Two men nabbed for killing NPA driver

Tawanda Ruzvudzo and Edmond Muzuva were remanded in custody when they appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo.

Two Harare men have appeared in court in connection with the alleged murder of a National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) driver.

Tawanda Ruzvudzo and Edmond Muzuva were remanded in custody when they appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo.

They were advised to approach the High Court for bail.

Allegations are that on March 12, the two accused persons robbed Shingirayi Chikosha after he gave them a lift to Norton.

The court heard that the suspects went to Whitehouse bus terminus and pretended to be looking for transport to Norton.

At around 9:30 pm, the deceased arrived at the bus stop driving a KIA Picanto belonging to the NPA and picked up the two, who had posed as genuine passengers.

On the way, the accused allegedly strangled Chikosha to death.

They later hanged his body in a bush in Lake Chivero, adjacent to Gracelands Resort Centre in Zvimba, before fleeing with the company vehicle and his personal valuables.

The vehicle was later dumped in Chegutu.
