ZPC Kariba bounced back from a challenging run, including a recent loss to Scotland FC, to secure a crucial one nil victory against Triangle United at Nyamhunga Stadium yesterday.
The match started with both teams displaying good football and a balanced attacking approach.
ZPC Kariba's defence, anchored by Marshal Gavaza, was tested early on but held firm against Triangle's advances.
The breakthrough came in the 9th minute when Moses Demera scored with a beautifully curved shot that bypassed Triangle's defense, which was marshaled by Nomore Chinyerere and Arnold Mawadza.
Triangle United responded with a period of intense pressure. Mawadza came close to equalizing, and a shot from Jordan Pertra grazed the side netting.
ZPC keeper Future Sibanda was called into action, making a crucial save from a long-range volley by Chinyerere.
Despite Triangle's attacks, ZPC Kariba's midfield, led by the influential Collen Muleya, maintained control for much of the first half.
The first half concluded with ZPC Kariba holding a narrow 1-0 lead.

The second half was equally contested, with both sides creating scoring opportunities. Chinyerere missed another long-range attempt, while ZPC's Wayne Kamurai and Collen Muleya, who missed a header from a Ciphas Musikavanhu corner, failed to convert their chances.
Genius Hute was a constant threat for ZPC Kariba, using his dribbling skills to create space and opportunities. Triangle's midfield, captained by Thabani Kamusoko, struggled to maintain control and momentum.
After the match, ZPC Kariba's head coach, Newton Chitewe, expressed his relief, stating, "It was a very tough match because the opponent was too physical; it's like they were employing bad tactics like kicking, but eventually we became victorious. Also, recently we haven't been winning, so getting three points for us is a bonus."
Triangle United's coach, Genesis Mangombe, offered his perspective on the defeat.
"I think the traveling was not proper—if you see the goal that we conceded, it was a poor reaction from the defense and the goalkeeper as well,” Mangombe said.
“ But from there, we managed the game very well and also kept the energy levels high. However, our opponent played the second ball better, and it paid dividends for them.
“Maybe because of fatigue and other factors, we did not manage it properly, but I am happy the margin was not so wide."
The win halts ZPC Kariba's two-match losing streak and provides a significant boost in momentum.
