The once beautiful Shabanie Mine FC is on a quest for resurrection.

Shabanie Mine FC is poised to rise from the ashes under a new era of determination and community spirit under the leadership of Phelandaba Mpofu.

Shabanie fell to the lower tier league in 2018 when they were relegated from the Premier Soccer League. Since then, all attempts to return to the elite league have failed dismally.

As they remain afloat in the Central Region, fixated on 13th position in the log table and the task ahead seems daunting, but the club's leadership is undeterred.

A whopping 38 points behind log leaders Sheasham FC, Shabanie Mine FC's sights are firmly set on a promotion push in 2026.

But at this point, the new president's vision and revival plan is clear: "To engage new and the neglected stakeholders and have them all rally behind the team."

For the bigger part of the season, Mpofu has single-handedly fuelled and met the club's expense to keep the once beautiful club afloat. However, the soft spoken leader has outlined a brief of the plans they have to fully revive the club.

"By uniting the community and rekindling the passion that once defined Shabanie Mine FC, the club aims to rise from the ashes.

“We are also looking at clearing the ownership question at the club and making new arrangement," he said.

"The mine, Shabanie and Mashava Mines, has the ownership of the club, but we negotiate and see how other stakeholders can be involved, that is a community team.

“If we get their approval then we will surely be on course to have people contributing towards the team."

The road to redemption will be long and arduous, but with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to involving all stakeholders, Shabanie Mine FC could be better next season.
